Dr. Deb Melendez loves life and strives to appreciate every stage of it. She sees life as a gift but recognizes that it can often take great effort to achieve one’s goals. Over the last 17 years of medical practice, she has worked in a variety of settings mostly taking care of adults and geriatric patients with chronic diseases. After working with many frail and disabled patients who likely could have had a more fruitful life experience, she started focusing more on evidence-based prevention and wellness for herself and her patients. She is excited to share the knowledge and motivate her patients to proactively choose daily healthy habits that will result in robust longevity.
Dr. Melendez is a board-certified family medicine physician. She began her medical career attaining honors in Biology at Wellesley College, before earning her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. She completed her internship at the Conroe Medical Education Foundation program and finished her residency at The Methodist Hospital in Houston in 2007. Dr. Melendez has worked in solo practice, private group practice, and large federally-funded health centers. She is skilled at managing complex patients with acute and chronic problems.

Dr. Sida Yan served on the front lines in Urgent Care during the pandemic, working 12-hour shifts in crisis conditions, all with a baby at home. Her husband built a UV light sanitizing cupboard in their garage for her to use at the end of each shift. Sida carries this same sacrificial commitment as a Medici Primary Care Doctor. Her empathy, love and experience make her a doctor like no other.

Dr. Yan is a board-certified family medicine physician. She attended St. Louis University School of Medicine in her hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. After medical school, she joined her husband in San Antonio, where he was stationed as an active-duty Air Force officer. Sida completed her family medicine residency at UT
Health San Antonio and continues to enjoy practicing evidence-based medicine specifically tailored to each of her patient’s needs.

Bethany became a nutrition and lifestyle expert because of two great loves in her life: people and food! As a passionate foodie, she doesn’t deprive her patients of the joy of good food. Rather, she helps them play the long game and believes the health elephant is best eaten one tasty bite at a time.
She is a one-person hype team, celebrating every tiny step forward that each patient takes with her. Best of all, having fought battles of her own, Bethany is easy to talk to. She has only one firm rule about her relationship with a patient: it’s a judgment-free zone.
Bethany completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Nutrition and Dietetics at Stephen F. Austin State University. As a registered dietitian, Bethany has worked in diverse settings, including sub-acute care for diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular, and other chronic health conditions. She has worked for hospice, and Meals on Wheels, and has experience with peritoneal and hemodialysis.

Meet Dr. Thomas, a highly compassionate and well-trained Board-certified psychiatrist who is dedicated to mental health. Dr. Thomas's heart is particularly drawn to the underserved, including the incarcerated and homeless populations. Marisela holds a Masters of Education in Rehabilitation Counseling & Human Services and a Bachelors in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Idaho. Marisela is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Trauma-Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and participates in ongoing trainings and conferences related to the effects of trauma and other significant mental health care needs.
Theoretical Orientation and Approach: Marisela practices from a holistic approach incorporating mindfulness and body awareness; along with working from a Trauma Theory lens focusing on psychoeducation to understand and treat the effects of trauma. Marisela also uses Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and strength based techniques.

Dr. Aaron Smiley is a distinguished veterinarian who is passionate about animals and their caretakers. He obtained his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois and practices small animal medicine in Anderson, Indiana.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Smiley holds the position of Chief of Staff Advisor at over 25 VetCor clinics throughout the Midwest where he provides professional leadership. He is also a founding member of the Veterinary Virtual Care Association and has been influential in promoting telemedicine and technological advancements in veterinary medicine. He even designed a virtual care course for the University of Illinois iLearning Center.
Dr. Smiley had the honor of being the President of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association. During his tenure, Dr. Smiley played a crucial role in helping the profession navigate the COVID-19 emergency and helped ensure animal owners maintained access to veterinary care through collaboration with government officials.
He is a highly sought-after national speaker within the veterinary field and also serves on the Board of the Veterinary Nursing Program at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Carly initially became a physical therapist because of her love of anatomy and drive to help others. She has now grown a passion for patient education and believes introducing simple movement into your daily routine can drastically improve your quality of life. She believes that the exercise world can be an overwhelming and intimidating place. Her goal is to provide a place for patients to feel comfortable asking questions, practicing exercises, and growing their own knowledge in order to sustain the improvements made from their physical therapy sessions. As a mother to two young children, she understands that time can be limited and is able to construct intentional and efficient exercise programs to maximize outcomes.
Carly completed her Bachelors in Health Science at the University of Dayton and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Mount St. Joseph University. She started her career in the outpatient orthopedic and neurological setting, but later joined her husband in Florida where he works as an active duty Air Force member. There, she gained experience in the sub-acute and acute care settings which included a multitude of diagnoses and wound-care treatments. She has dedicated almost 6 years to her field and is thrilled to continue changing health care for the better with Medici.

Before diving into Cardiology, Dr. Valentine began her career as a successful pharmacist. When her father unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack at 58, she felt called to make a change. She sold her pharmacy and went to medical school, never forgetting her dad’s words that she had the ability, and the heart, to become a doctor. Her personal story led her to craft a safe and loving environment for her patients, knowing that each is screened and cared for with the utmost consideration.
Dr. Valentine's area of specialization is adult cardiology and she has received professional recognition including Texas Super Doctors and is the author of Why Most Women Die - How Women Can Fight Their #1 Killer: Heart Disease. Further, she has received several awards including Senior Award for Excellence in Internal Medicine and Community Named one of Best Doctors in Texas every year since 2002.
